What's in a name?

Back in the mid 1980's, we moved into a new neighborhood. Chip and Sandy, the couple across the street, spent most of their time in their backyard, but were very friendly when we did see them.

Chip was always very kind and considerate to Sandy when we'd see them together, but then, it was the strangest thing, because we would hear him yell at her using a very commanding tone, like, "Get in here right now, Sandy", "Come when I call you", "Get in the car, NOW, Sandy". As time went on, I kind of had this growing dislike for Chip, puzzled how someone could seem so nice, but act like that to his wife.
Then, one day, quite awhile after we had moved in, this haggard looking dog came waddling over to our yard. Not far behind was Chip, yelling, "Come back here, Sandy"!

Yep, turns out their blind, deaf, old dog was also named Sandy. Chip really was a great guy after all!

That's too funny ... can you imagine what it was like for them too ... "Sandy, get OFF THE BED" ... you'd think Mrs. Sandy would be changing the dog's name, at least to Andy.
