(Rick and I as we stepped off the plane in Chaleston)
When we heard our son was getting married in SC, I knew that I would have no choice but to fly - something I use to really enjoy. But, about 10 years ago, I developed this "thing" about air travel that terrified me. It was more of a claustrophobic feeling than a fear of crashing. I even went so far as to get medication from my doctor, "just in case"- (I could picture my family being totally embarrassed as they watched me on the evening news, going crazy somewhere on a tarmac!) But, in the week before we left, I told myself I just wasn't going to be anxious - I would enjoy my trip, and not let myself get past that first thought of panic. Why did that work? I don't know, but it did - no drugs - just mind over matter.
Now, I've been planning ahead about trips we can take - heck, I'm even thinking about signing up for those travel alerts!
